Vessel Removal

Spider veins (telangiectasias) are those tiny purple or red blood vessels seen on the surface of the skin. Resembling spider webs, they either appear in small masses or as short jagged lines on the face around the nose and cheeks, or on the legs. Spider veins can cause your skin to look flushed or older beyond its years. While not a medically serious condition, they can look unattractive, causing some people to be more self-conscious about their appearance.

With the right laser technology, they can be significantly reduced or eliminated with minimal discomfort and no scarring.

About Vessel Removal

Visible vessels develop when small blood vessels near the skin's surface dilate, weaken, or break, becoming permanently visible through the skin. They can appear as fine red lines, a web-like network of vessels, or diffuse redness across an area.

On the face, broken capillaries most commonly develop around the nose, cheeks, and chin. They are often caused by chronic sun exposure, rosacea, temperature extremes, or physical trauma to the skin. On the legs, spider veins are superficial vessels that develop due to increased pressure in the venous system, prolonged standing, genetics, or hormonal changes.

Vascular laser treatments work by delivering targeted light energy into the vessel, heating it until it collapses and is cleared by the body naturally. Surrounding skin tissue is left unaffected throughout the process.

Most patients find it very manageable. Vascular laser treatments deliver a brief snap or flash of heat at the skin's surface, which is typically well-tolerated. Our laser is equipped with a cooling device that delivers a burst of cold to the skin immediately before each pulse, significantly reducing discomfort throughout the session.

Yes. Vascular laser treatments permanently collapse the targeted vessels, which are then cleared by the body over the following weeks. Once treated, those specific vessels do not return. New vessels can develop over time, particularly with ongoing sun exposure or rosacea, but maintenance sessions address those as they appear.

It depends on the number, size, and location of the vessels being treated. Fine facial capillaries often show significant clearance after a single session. More extensive vascular concerns may require 2 to 4 sessions. We will give you a realistic estimate at your consultation based on what we observe.

In most cases, no. Facial capillaries and spider veins are very common and are typically caused by sun exposure, temperature changes, skin ageing, and rosacea rather than any systemic health issue. If you have any concerns about your general health, we recommend speaking with your GP alongside booking a skin consultation.

Results are not always immediately visible. After laser treatment, the vessel may appear slightly darker or bruised before fading. As the body clears the collapsed vessel over 2 to 4 weeks, the skin gradually clears.
