The VBeam Laser is an exciting device that can help make your skin more beautiful than ever. It is considered a pulse dye laser. That simply means that the laser energy is delivered to your skin in pulses and that a dye is used to generate different color lasers. The color of the laser is determined by what condition is being treated. Depending on the color, it can treat things from red patches to dark spots. Many refer to the VBeam laser as a vascular laser, as it is intended to treat dilated blood cells.
What Conditions can the VBeam Laser Treat?
You will most commonly hear about this treatment being used for people with rosacea. Other things treated include red birthmarks (sometimes called port wine stains), angiomas (small clumps of red blood vessels), scars, bruises, warts, and sun damage.
How Does VBeam Work?
By creating an intense burst of light, the VBeam laser selectively kills the extra blood vessels. It can do this without affecting the surrounding tissue. Although the light is intense, it is still gentle. The light collapses the unwanted blood vessels, which are then reabsorbed or eliminated naturally by your body. After treatment, the skin tone is more even.
A single session of VBeam treatment can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the size of the area being treated. Some patients see results after one treatment, but most patients will need 3-5. Treatments are spaced out 6 to 12 weeks apart. The type of condition you are treating will be the biggest factor in deciding how many treatments are needed. Minor sunspots, for example, may only need a treatment or two. Port wine birthmarks usually require the most amount of treatments.
During the treatment, both you and your provider will wear protective eyewear. For added comfort, the VBeam has a built-in Integrated Dynamic Cooling Device. This device sprays a very cold mist across your face, making sure you feel no discomfort during your treatment.
What to Expect with VBeam Treatment
Depending on the condition being treated, you may see immediate results. Healing and improvement times vary greatly. You may notice the treated area looking a bit darker for a week or so after treatment. This quickly fades to reveal younger, brighter, more even looking skin. After treatments, be sure to give your skin a little extra TLC. Use plenty of sunscreen and avoid putting products that contain harsh chemicals on your face.
